This weekend the Aronson's traveled over 570 miles from Rochester to the western side of South Dakota for our first family vacation. Sean was such a great passenger, we made it all the way to Rapid City on our first day (with quite a few stops along the way). One of the stops we made was in Mitchell, SD, home of the "World's only Corn Palace." We're not sure where else in the world they would have a corn palace other than South Dakota (well, maybe Iowa)! Today we ventured out to the Black Hills to see Mt. Rushmore and the eternally under construction Crazy Horse Memorial. Sean was happy to be out of the car hiking instead of driving all day again! Unfortunately, we have to cut our trip short and head back east tomorrow morning. After record highs in the 70's today, Rapid City and the Black Hills are expecting blizzard conditions with snow accumulations estimated anywhere from 12 to 30 inches!!! We are getting the heck out of dodge before we are stuck here for days. The rest of the Black Hills, the Badlands and our hope to see Devil's Tower in Wyoming (only about 2.5 hrs from Rapid City) will have to wait for another day. Here are a few pictures from our first family vacation!

Excited to be out of the car on the way to the Corn Palace.

The "World's Only Corn Palace". They decorate the exterior every year in Corn. This year the theme was "America's Destinations" with corn murals of the Kennedy Space Center, Mt. Rushmore, Golden Gate Bridge, Statue of Liberty, and more. Of course the Corn Palace itself was also included as one of America's Destinations!

The future fifth President to be carved on Mt. Rushmore.

The Aronson's on vacation!

Sean and Mommy in the woods at Mt. Rushmore. He's afraid the hike is almost over and he'll have to go back in the car seat!

Sean and Mommy at the Crazy Horse Memorial. Sean is obviously getting sick of having his picture taken!

A rare picture of Sean smiling in his car seat!
